What is your Why?
I perfectly understand the answer; I am an example of how why is the reason for successful change, for years I thought that I had chosen well what I wanted to dedicate myself to, clearly, without a reason to motivate and drive me, the inevitable came, failure, just When I turned 40 I understood that my reason was an education in primary schools, I discovered that my passion was to be in a classroom with 20 children teaching, what changed? All! My why became my day-to-day; of course, it made a difference!.
Emotions and feelings act as a catalyst, like a machine's engine; the processes, purposes, budgets, and goals can be perfectly designed, but if they do not consider the heart, they will surely achieve outstanding results, not extraordinary.
After watching Dr. Kotter's video "Establish a sense of urgency," a similarity came to my mind between "urgency" and the need to potentiate fear to make decisions or drive to do things.
As educators, we must incorporate in our teaching style and in our way of influencing students the importance of emotions, and their validation, eliminate paradigms that they are wrong or that they show weakness, and teach students to find their way and on that, they base their academic development, strengthen their knowledge skills integrating the sense of urgency as a tool and not as an obstacle.
