When I saw John Kotter's video, my answer was an absolute YES; I am an innovative teacher who, every time I plan, focuses on memorable activities that allow students to explore their minds and go beyond memorizing.

But when I read Lisa Nielsen's article, I realized that I still have a long way to go; the good news is that I'm on my way, but there's still a long way to go.

Our education system is inflexible and focused on standardized grades and tests, rigid schedules with previously scheduled routine activities designed by people who have not been in a classroom for 5 or 10 years. Therefore the last generation of students they met today are adults.

However, significant changes can still be achieved, they all start with the teacher, and that is where the magic begins to happen, defining an effective and efficient communication that explains the purpose of the change, the why, and what can be the key to carry the actual innovation at a higher level in which that is the new language that we all use
