New Culture of Learning

Play is an emergent property of the application of rules of imagination" (TEDxTalks, 2012). However, according to Merriam-Webster, that definition does not reflect the word "game" (Merriam-Webster, 2021). Interestingly, the only place that includes every word in the English dictionary is the one that imposes restrictions on us.

 

Traditionally, state exams require discipline, standardized questions, and many hours of stress before, during, and after these tests. Therein lies the problem.

My Innovation Plan plan focuses primarily on blended learning. However, what matters most is how students begin to perceive a topic as complex and heavy as state testing as something that can be fun and not just tests. Model is the only alternative to practice.

Reading and Typing Club is a model that allows the practice of the reading and writing section while they combine it with games. Play-based learning is a component I want to incorporate into my classroom. Giving my students opportunities to grow and fuel their imaginations through play will create a meaningful learning environment in which they will look forward to learning. I no longer want to be the focal point of my classroom but rather the facilitator who guides my students toward their questions and answers. Creating an environment with these crucial aspects will allow my students to learn by doing, learning by exploring, and learning to question everything around them.


The main challenge I may face is the mistaken belief of some teachers and administrators that technology is just a hobby and not a tool that can provide many options for new ways of learning.

Despite the obstacles I face, my purpose is to give my students the tools and strategies they will be able to use forever in their lives, not just within the square footage of my classroom.


Hybrid and Blended Learning

 

Poor planning and rising opportunities in uncertain times.

Incorporating technology into teaching and learning does not mean discarding previous approaches. The key is to adapt and create a new learning system by designing classrooms that better reflect the world students will participate in once they graduate.

 

Conflict With Traditional Learning Models

 

Learning has focused on classroom routine as the only useful model for delivering learning. Corporate and organizational learning has also been classroom-based offering professional development and training, with techno-e-learning a major driver of compliance-based learning. Society has changed and we have clearly seen innovation in learning accelerate.

 

Learning is an easy process to impart (Thomas, 2012), yet learning education organizations are designed in a way that keeps the learning process difficult and inaccessible. Teachers, schools, and other learning organizations give recognition to those who endure and persevere within their rigid development. The new culture of learning requires two critical models.

 

  1. -The relentless pace of change that is responsible for our disequilibrium is also our greatest hope. A growing digital, networked infrastructure is amplifying our ability to access. However, the type of learning that is going on as a result looks so different from the kinds of learning described by most educational theorists that it is essentially invisible. (Thomas, 2011).

  2. ​-This new type of learning is a cultural phenomenon that underlies a large number of people’s experiences and affects them in myriad ways. It takes place without books, without teachers, and without classrooms, and it requires environments that are bounded. (Thomas, 2011)

 

My goals for my students are clear: to provide authentic and individualized learning experiences in which they can integrate technology as a fundamental part of learning.

Develop reading and writing skills on the keyboard so that the reading and writing sections of the state tests are completed more efficiently and without unnecessary waste of time.

 

To boost holistic thinking and learning, move toward asking questions instead of looking for answers. Specifically, we must filter everything we do in our organization through these three questions of A New Learning Culture (Brown & Thomas, 2011). “we believe that these three practices could frame a learning progression endemic to digital networks” (Brown & Thomas, 2011). With these questions as the lens through which we look, we create an environment of constant self-assessment, iteration, and internal motivation (Brown & Thomas, 2011). “No one yet knows what a complete digital transformation will look like. The journey of companies is one of continuous adaptation and evolution.
