Proposal
Blended Learning Station Rotation (Reading and Typing Club)
Southside Elementary - Cleveland ISD
The percentage of evolution that is growing in the United States today is still unknown by experts, previously it was estimated that more than 75% of school districts have implemented more online or blended learning from the K-12 level. The practice of blended learning in K–12 schools has grown immensely over the past several years as school and district leaders have adopted technology with the goal of personalizing learning. Yet, the unfolding of the practice itself—exactly how blended instructional models change and evolve to meet the goals of personalization—happens at a micro-level. In numerous classrooms, innovative teachers constantly identify and pursue new ways to adjust, bend, and break open instructional models to optimize the learning process for their students.
The growth of technology in the field of education continues to impact the way students learn and acquire new tools for learning. The Blended Learning Model facilitates a student’s ability to attain more information while at the same time motivating them to increase their academic performance. The role of an educator is an important one. It requires us to carry many responsibilities on our shoulders. For instance, if we look at what has happened in the last two years in a post-pandemic world, teachers were constantly under pressure to get better results from their students regardless of their background or grade level. Therefore, teachers now need to adapt quickly and incorporate new technologies into their classrooms to achieve the required results. Blended Learning is one successful model that can be applied.
I am proposing to continue using the software that we have at school called MyOn, Renaissance, Epic, and Typing, that can differentiate reading and writing levels, and show areas where students need to improve. Blended learning includes models such as station rotation, it is a course or subject in which students experience the rotation model within a contained classroom or group of classrooms.

Also, I will implement the individualized rotation that I will be using to support my students in class. Using this strategy, students will rotate on an individually customized schedule among learning modalities. This modality sets a daily schedule according to a playlist customized to their specific educational needs (Horn & Staker, 2015, p.45).

As a result of these weekly activities, I predict students will develop stronger oral language skills. They will be able to speak, read and write about topics in longer phrases and with less prompting. In addition, the use of the software will strengthen connections between books and real life. Students will be better informed about what is happening in each lesson, and I will have personal information I can use to build relationships and connections with each child.

It should be noted that blended learning will help our students obtain a more effective and efficient learning environment, an opportunity to better understand without rushing, and a more independent future that can open the doors to many opportunities. Due to these reasons, I am asking for your support as you move forward with the proposal outlined above.
